Pulpdent Multi-Cal Calcium Hydroxide Paste is used for endodontic and vital pulp therapy clinical applications where calcium hydroxide is the indicated treatment material, including intracanal medicament placement between appointments during root canal therapy, direct pulp capping of mechanically or traumatically exposed vital pulp tissue, indirect pulp capping over near-exposed pulp in deep carious lesions, cavity lining under restorative materials, and temporary root filling during apexification procedures in teeth with open apices.
Each kit contains four 1.2mL syringes and 8 applicator tips at 22-gauge x 1/2-inch each. Dental offices ordering calcium hydroxide paste from their supplier can buy this kit for its non-setting formulation, which allows the paste to remain workable throughout the treatment period between appointments, making it easily removable with file and copious irrigation when the canal is ready for final obturation, since the creamy viscosity is interchangeable with Pulpdent Paste and TempCanal for all root canal and vital pulp therapy indications.
Multi-Cal is formulated as a smooth, creamy calcium hydroxide paste containing approximately 40% calcium hydroxide in an aqueous cellulose paste base, with a pH greater than 12 that provides the strongly alkaline environment responsible for calcium hydroxide's antimicrobial action against bacteria present in infected root canal systems and necrotic pulp tissue.
The radiopaque formulation provides visibility on periapical, bitewing, and CBCT radiographs after placement, allowing the clinician to confirm the paste has reached the intended location and is distributed at adequate density within the canal lumen for effective antimicrobial coverage, while also facilitating monitoring during the between-visit treatment period and identification of any voids requiring paste replenishment.
