Pinnacle Dispos-A-Trap Disposable Plastic Vacuum Traps, 2 3/4" is used for filtering debris from the evacuation unit, giving the clinical team a disposable evacuation trap that replaces the present trap filter in the unit. The trap sits in the evacuation unit's suction path and holds back solid debris, such as restorative material and cotton, so that it does not travel further into the vacuum line.

When an assistant finishes a restorative procedure and needs the operatory ready for the next patient, removing the used trap and dropping in a fresh one takes the place of emptying and cleaning a reusable screen that has collected infectious waste. Each pack contains 144 disposable vacuum traps, each 2 3/4 inches in diameter, made of white plastic. This diameter fits Pelton & Crane Spirit units with white plastic canisters, including models 2500, 2510, 2238, 2338, 2802, 2812, 2800, and 2810. The traps are directly interchangeable with A-dec style metal tips, and no syringe conversion is required before use.

Matching the diameter and canister style to the trap housing ensures the filter seats properly. Dispos-A-Trap seats in the evacuation unit's trap housing, where it filters solid debris out of the suction line during restorative and hygiene procedures instead of letting it collect in a reusable screen. The totally disposable filter reduces the possibility of infection and contamination, reduces infectious aerosol, and improves the performance of the suction system. It also eliminates one of the most hazardous and unpleasant tasks in the dental setting, cleaning the waste that is present in a filter.

Because the whole trap is discarded after use, staff avoid direct hand contact with the collected debris, and the trap that goes back into the unit is always a clean one. Debris buildup in a reusable trap can gradually reduce evacuation efficiency if it is not cleared regularly, and replacing the trap removes that maintenance step from the daily routine at the chair.
